Five ways it ended happily for Daniel Jackson randomfreshink June 24 2007, 20:57:02 UTC
One and two....

1) After Sam got done futzing with time, she figured out where the Ancients--and frankly the Asgard, too--had gone wrong. It took her a few months to work out the kinks, then she sat down with General O'Neill and Teal'c and talked about it. The pros, the cons, the ways this could all go wrong. It took five minutes to reach consensus. They went back, grabbed Sha're's body from the morgue, left a fake to be buried in its place so that didn't change. It took a sarcophagus to revive her and the help of the Tok'ra to get the symbiote out. But the Tok'ra had long wanted go get hold of Amonet to find out what she knew and see if they could genetically engineer a queen to replace Egeria. The only real question was what would be Daniel's reaction--but O'Neill was right. Daniel took one took, and the emotions passed over his face in quick flashes--shock, then fear, then panic, then astonishment, then worry, then hope, then uncertainty, and a dash of anger before it all stripped away to just Daniel making some new discovery. When she smiled, said that one soft word, "Dan'yel," he stepped forward. He wrapped his arms around her, and the years fell away, not quite as if they'd never existed, but close enough for the three people who slipped out of the room.

2) After fifty years stuck on a ship in a time bubble, Sam wouldn't touch time again. Daniel had mixed feelings as well about that mission, and he kept thinking he'd had another Heliopolis and had lost it again. The Asgard database was now under study, but not in his hands. He had a job still with SG-1. It took two more years to get the Ori to cave. It took the Others getting off their glowy butts and stepping in since Adria was almost one of them--she'd invoked the Anubis clause and had only partly ascended, held back by her own attachments. But after Daniel reached Shifu, Shifu got in there and argued her into letting go and really ascending; Daniel figured who the hell else knew better than Sha're's son about turning your back on evil. With that done, it seemed like life would settle down, but then the Wraith came through from Pegasus. That took another decade before Sam and Vala invented an artificial energy that could provide the Wraith nourishment without anyone dying. Teal'c and Daniel--and Cam with a big damn space gun--argued them into trying it. It took a lot longer to convert them all over. Then the next thing came along, but by then Daniel had figured out he never would have been happy without some new challenge, some new battle. And by then he was also training the next generation how to do the impossible, and Daniel rediscovered his love of teaching.
