American Sign Language. Technically, he wouldn’t be speaking it, but no matter. His father knew ASL because Daniel’s paternal grandmother, who died before he was old enough to remember her, was deaf, and right before the accident that killed his parents Daniel’s ASL lessons had commenced. He’s never been able to bring himself to learn from anyone else. When he says that he wishes he knew ASL, what he really means is that he wishes his father had lived to teach him ( ... )

This is a great list! The first one is very poignant, and the rest all come with great reasons for Daniel wanting to know those particular reasons. I love the variety.

1. Navajo. It's is a truly American language, and one Daniel wishes he could speak. Even though he is aware that people who learn as adults never sound like natural speakers, he'd like to try. He's been fascinated by the language since he learned about the Navajo code-talkers of WWII when he was in high school. However, he was very disappointed in the movie Windtalkers. Why does Nicholas Cage spoil everything ( ... )

Thanks. I don't think I've heard anyone say oorah on SG-1, but I hear it all the time on NCIS.
