Four people who didn't out John and Rodney and one who did. (Pt. 2)antares04aAugust 23 2009, 09:47:19 UTC
4. They found out too late that the Haythorians were able to read their minds like an open book, and that they didn’t respect personal boundaries or private thoughts.
“Colonel Sheppard, we know that you and Dr. McKay have a forbidden relationship. And if we out you to your superiors, you’ll lose your job and face other unpleasant consequences.”
McKay stared open-mouthed at the friendly chancellor who had invited them for dinner.
Sheppard crossed his arms and smirked. “So what?”
“We have an offer for you.”
“Blackmail?”
“Do you want to return to Earth? Leave Atlantis permanently?” With these words they had got precisely to the heart of Sheppard’s fears.
Sheppard pursed his lips. Crap. They had to get out of here, the sooner the better - and the threat of exposure was the least of their problems. If the Haythorians knew that he was sleeping with McKay, they were able to access more important secrets.
“What do you want?”
“A contribution to our sperm bank from two of the strongest and,” he nodded to McKay, “brightest gene carriers in the Pegasus Galaxy.”
When they flew back to Atlantis, Sheppard saw the same uneasiness he felt, also in the eyes of the other expedition personnel. He didn’t ask what they had had to do, but sensed their relief when he announced that they would cancel this gate-address forever from their list.
5. Jeannie had coaxed John into persuading Rodney to make a little side-trip to Vancouver the next time they were on Earth.
It had been a pleasant stay so far, although Jeannie was playing mercilessly on Rodney’s guilty conscience about the incident with the nanites. She made him accompany Madison to the zoo, the playground and the funfair. The next day, Rodney had to watch cartoons and build Lego-castles with his niece. He complained, but John noticed that he sort of liked the carefree atmosphere in Jeannie’s household.
They were having breakfast when Madison told them proudly that she would have a baby-sister in five months.
There were hugs and congratulations and a toast to the new baby with coffee, milk and tea.
Madison crawled onto Rodney’s lap and asked him innocently: “Uncle Mer, will you and John also have a baby?”
Rodney turned beet-red and coughed.
“Why, sweetie?” John inquired with a big false smile, his mind racing.
“Mom said, when you love someone very, very much, and kiss him, and sleep in the same bed with him, you can have a baby. Well, you sleep in the same bed in the guest room, and you kissed my uncle yesterday in the garage,” she explained to John.
When John scratched his neck and answered, “But you know ...” he saw Madison smile sanctimoniously. Of course the little minx knew all the relevant biological details! She had only been acting the naive girl!
“Meredith!” Jeannie yelled and boxed her brother on the arm. “You and John?” Then she grinned over her whole face.
“We ... I ... I mean ...” Rodney stuttered and looked helplessly at John.
“I think we have been outed, Rodney,” John smiled.
“I’m so sorry, John,” Rodney put his niece down and gave her a death-glare.
“Don’t be,” John said and kissed Rodney under the applause and howling of the whole Miller family.

Thank you! Yes, there should be a fruit-chocolate-wine basket for Lorne in the near future. *lol* And 4 is creepy, I wouldn't like to live in society where everybody can read my thoughts. Thanks a lot!
