a parrot, but he didn't want something that talked more than he did.

a fish, but he felt bad for them because they were trapped in a tank.

a snake was too much like his symbiote.

dogs reminded him of wolves, so they were out.

cats reminded him too much of jaffa, proud & aloof.

Personally I suggest a turtle. They can live long lives, are silent, and have a certain patiently-biding-their-time quality.

He thought about getting a cat, but rejected the idea when he discovered that Daniel Jackson was allergic to them. Daniel was the only one of his teammates who ever sat with him when he was in kel’no’reem, and Teal’c would miss that quiet camaraderie if it came to an end… or if the quiet were to be shattered by sneezes ( ... )
