The journal-entries style works really well, and I like that his experiences weren't either extreme of idyllic or traumatic. Also, these lines ...

A/N: I always got the impression that Daniel had a really foster home experience(s). I’m not sure if it is something that was alluded to on the show or if it was something that my own twisted head has made up, but still, these are the things I think every time ( ... )

#4 eep! poor Daniel. Probably pretty accurate, given the statistics I've heard about foster kids.

#5- I don't know why, but it's my favourite. By his teens I think it would be the best possible placement for him, just to be left alone.

I really like the ways these are written -- the sense of the condensed, sometimes dreamlike form that memories take, boiled down to the most striking, lingering perceptions of smell and color and light and space.
