“Is it hot in here?” Vala asks. “It feels hot.” She pulls at her collar and glances around. Cam’s giving her some kind of look, but whatever, he doesn’t count. Daniel didn’t even stop tinkering with whatever he was doing. Teal’c’s been ignoring her for the past two hours, but that’s fine, like she cares what the giant, super-muscled, hunk of a man thinks about her.
Sam gives her a sympathetic smile, but goes back to what she was doing. Someday Vala will know exactly what Samantha does, but today is clearly not that day.
“I’m just saying, this place could use a little air,” Vala puts out there.
Cam sighs. “You’ve been saying that for the past four hours, and we’re working on it. Carter’s working on it, Daniel’s working on it, hell, even Teal’c is working on it. You, on the other hand, just keep pointing out the obvious. We’re stuck in an elevator, it’s not the end of the world.”
“But it’s ho--” Sam pulls Vala to her and Vala’s being kissed before she even has time to think about it.
“More later,” Sam promises. “If you behave.”
Vala crosses her arms and licks her lips. “I am behaving.”
Sam shoots her a look and Vala sighs, “Fine, fine. Go back to your…” she waves her hand, “…whatever it is you were doing.”
Sam kisses her again and Vala thinks it might have been worth being stuck in here just for that.
2.
“I’m hungry.”
“We’re on a stakeout,” Cam says.
“There should be food on a stakeout,” Vala answers. “Steak.”
“It’s not that kind of stakeout.”
“We’ve been sitting in this gross, smelly van for hours,” she complains. “I don’t know what you expected to find, but Daniel doesn’t seem to have a secret life as a cloud.”
“Clown,” Sam corrects, holding binoculars up to her eyes. “Teal’c found a rubber nose, and Cam found balloons. He’s definitely hiding something.”
“If it’s food, I say we go get some,” Vala says.
Sam reaches out and rests a hand on Vala’s neck. She tugs lightly until their foreheads are touching. “Just a little while longer, then we’ll stop at McDonald’s on the way back to base,” she promises.
Vala crosses her arms. “Burger King.”
Cam groans. “No one like Burger--”
“Deal,” Sam cuts in. She leans in and seals it with a kiss, before picking up her binoculars again.
3.
“I’m tired. Can we stop now?”
“For the hundredth time,” Cam sighs. “No, we cannot stop. If we stop, the angry villagers will catch us, and we’ll all be served as the main course for dinner.”
“They didn’t actually look like cannibals to me,” Vala muses. “Not that they have a certain look. I once met a man who--”
“We don’t want to hear it,” Mitchell cuts in. “Keep walking. Quietly.”
Vala huffs. “Well, you’re no fun.
“That’s me,” he mutters. “No Fun Cam.”
“Samantha,” Vala says, turning to the woman next to her. “How about we take a short break and… play a little hokey pokey.”
Sam grins. “I think you mean hanky panky.”
“Yes, that,” Vala nods.
Sam gives her a quick kiss. “Later. After we’re not running for our lives.”
“We’re not running now.”
An arrow whizzes past their head and as they start running, Vala thinks she really needs to stop saying those sort of things out loud.
