Just got home from the Bill Maher stand-up show at Davies Symphony Hall. My partner Mike, my friend Paul and his partner Jesse attended also. Maher was spot on most of the night, pontificating for nearly two (possibly Red Bull-fueled) hours of satire, skewering and truth-telling. Two of my favorite lines of the evening:
"Knowing things is stressful. That's why President Bush always seems so relaxed."
"You may not believe in evolution, but evolution believes in you."
Maher ranted and raved about politics, religion, sexual mores, Obama, McCain, Bush, the war in Iraq and big pharma. We even got to see a trailer for his soon-to-be released documentary
"Religulous" coming to theaters October 3, 2008. (Check out the big bear at 1:34 in the trailer). All in all, a wonderful evening. If you get a chance to see him live, DO!
