This morning I watched Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, and it was damn sad. I was frickin' face palming and holding back tears about halfway through. The second half isn't as depressing so much as it's just the aftermath. Well acted, good cinematography, but man what a total downer. Going from skimming reviews I heard it was depressing, but worth watching, and I agree for the most part. I'm just not going to be watching it again anytime soon.
Luckily I hadn't seen the acclaimed My Sassy Girl yet, and decided to watch it right afterwards. My goodness, what a perfect movie. I'm not one to be big on romantic comedy in the slightest, but this was positively wondrous. From start to finish it made me laugh, enjoy the characters, and had enough going on story wise to keep my interests up. A li'l silly in parts, but quite charming.
My favorite part had to be on the subway recounting one of the "games" the main characters would play.
A li'l kid vandalizes the subway train with his mom's lipstick, making a line across the walkway.
Girl: referring to people walking down the subway train, "Left foot first over the line, I win. With the right foot over the line you win"
Guy: "What's the prize?" c_c
Girl: "Let's see..." 9_9
Guy: "How 'bout a kiss?" ^^;;
Girl: "Wanna die?" V__V
Guy: "Ok, you choose." <
Girl: "But I'm a girl." ><
Guy: "Men and women are equal." ><
Girl: "Ok then, you slap and I slap too. Go easy on me and I'll kill you! Better slap me on the cheek, if you don't I'll kill you!!" .\ /.
Guy: "OK, you slap, I'll just flick with my finger." =__=
Girl: "Right, that's fair." *slaps him across the cheek* "Saw that! See the guy step over with his left foot" * as she's pointing in front of them* >)
Guy: clutching his face "I had my eyes closed, plus he came from the opposite way! I thought we were just doing this side." ;_;
Girl: "Shut up. Here they come" >)
A procession of soldiers starts marching down the subway in cadence.
Guy: "It'll be the right foot" :D
But at the last second the sgt. changes cadence and has them put their left feet forward. All 6 soldiers and the drill sgt. cross giving her six wins. >)
Guy: "You have to hit me?" @_@;;
Girl: "You know why the sky is blue?" n_n
Guy: "'Cause of the reflection of the sunshine-" c.c
Girl: cuts him off, "Nope! It's for me. I want it to be blue, so it's blue. You know why fire is hot? It's all for me. I want it to be hot, so it is. You know why we have 4 seasons here in Korea?" ^_^
Guy: "Because of you." -_-
Girl: "That is correct. And why you were born here? It's for me as well." n_n
Guy: "What? That's nonsense, I was born before you." u_u
Girl: "You know of worship? Peter came first in order to prepare for the birth of Jesus, huh?" v.v
Guy: "Well... yeah I know." o_o
Girl: "So, get ready! Come here and hold still!" >_< Then she proceeds to grab his face with her left hand and slap him with her right. The whole while the camera pans and shows other subway passengers peeking up from their newspapers and cringing with every audible slap.
Narration: Every day with her was full of surprises, and I never quite knew what to expect.
Afterwards he's near tears and she's sitting with her arms folded with a smug smile on her face. The camera fades showing a man on crutches walking their way, his right foot in a cast so the only foot that could possibly be coming down is his left. ^^;
I don't know. I was pretty floored laughing by that point. A text account doesn't do it justice though. >D
That's about it really. Watching movies to clear space from my hardrive. Think this kick is winding down, so maybe I'll get more productive with my freetime in the near future'ish. Being totally broke kinda limits things though.
