So, I guess the reason it had jogged my memory that it was Epilepsy Awareness Month, is not only that it is vitally important to me, but also because I had a seizure on last Friday. It was a really bad one....
No one was home but the kids and I. That's a first for me, and actually my worst nightmare. I've always wondered what would happen if I had a seizure with no one around, and just the kids home....well, I found out! I had just got done putting the kids to bed (upstairs), and was going to go feed the cats in the bathroom when it happened. Obviously I'm not really sure what happened, but I can guess. When I came to, I had Sophie by my side. I'm thinking she probably heard me fall. I had an extremely sore throat, and the bathroom cabinet was open. I think I hit my throat on it, on the way down (because I had a huge bruise on my throat). I have a black eye, and the side of my face is bruised. I have I softball-sized bruised on my right arm, and a small bruise on my left wrist. Oh, and I have a huge bruise on my right hip! How I got all of these, I don't know! I think I must have ping-ponged in the bathroom or something, lmao! Lets just say I'm a mess!
Anyway, I army crawled to my bedroom (which is right across from the bathroom), and Sophie and MIlo came with me. I passed out in the bedroom from exhaustion, and Sophie woke me up so I could call my parents. They called Adam who was 45min. away from home, and he called my best friend Jess who lives down the street. They came right over. And my dad also came over. Adam came as soon as he could! I was able to slide down the stairs, and make it onto the couch.
I pretty much have a complete memory wipe of that day! Kind of like "Men In Black" when they take those little memory scanner things and flash them in front of people so they wipe their memories. Yeah, that's me. Adam and I decided we needed a better plan for when things like this happen. We were amazed that Sophie was able to help me get the phone, take care of her brother and I, etc. But I need to get some medical ID, and have a phone that Sophie can just press a button and it will call 911.
So yeah, that was my scary Friday.....I hope it doesn't happen again, but one never knows. I hope to be more ready next time. Please wear a lavender (alternate: purple) ribbon to support family and friends with epilepsy!
