A set back

Well, my Mom got off to a decent start this week at rehab from the stroke she had that affected her left side. Unfortunately last night she had another stroke about 20 minutes after I'd spoken to her by phone. This one affects her right side and her ability to speak. Dave and I joined my sister and we were at the hospital until 2am. Both of us had early days today and I had hoped to take an evening off from commuting across the bay to visit Mom since my sister was going to visit on her way home from work today. However I got a call from my sister that my Mom was asking for me, somewhat assertively and I decided to trek over to check in on her. Mom had had an okay day and her speech had come back a little to where you could make out some of her words. But she wore down a bit and became somewhat fidgety and made many attempts to get out of bed. Poor thing.
My sister and I are somewhat unsure yet if we should recommend that my Aunt pay a visit just in case Mom continues to have these strokes. On the other hand the hospitalist Doctor was somewhat intent on reviewing Mom's health care directive last night in the ER. We have one in place but it seemed somewhat grim to have it drilled in at such a late hour.

Well, time for me and Panda to try to find some of those Z's we lost last night. :)
