Lost a lot of memories when Joplin was hit by the tornado. Four schools that I went to, two houses I lived in, stores my husband and I went shopping at from time to time. Places we took the kids to, gone. So much was destroyed in Joplin. Thousands without homes. So sad.
We adopted two homeless kittens from Joplin (the guy who they belonged to risked his life to save his family and the kittens, but no one would take them in, and they had no place to go. He thought he would have to take them to the humane society, but we took them in, giving us a total of three kittens now) Their names are Lucian, Perseus and Armand.
Haven't heard from family who I think lived in Joplin, and might never know what happened to them. Did find out my grandmother lived through it.
We haven't been there to personally see the damage, and I don't know if I want to. I've seen video and pictures, and think that is quiet enough. I don't think I want to go and see all that destruction. The clean up is going slow, cars are still getting flat tires where debris is still littering the roads.
