Viewing Blues

I've got a ton of television shows in my Netflix queue, and what am I wanting to watch...anime.  My husband intruduced this to me a while back (my brother watched some, but I found only one of the ones he watched to my liking) and now I'm craving them.  Have finished watching Darker than Black, and liked that more than I thought I would, and Jess rented me a copy of the Evangelian remake, the first volume, and just finished watching that, and now I'm wanting more.  Biggest problem is, I don't know a lot of animes, and am not sure what to look at next.  I watched a few minutes of an anime called Fruits Basket yesterday, and can't say I saw enough to say I liked it or not.  My husband says it's ridiculous, but it sounds amusing to me.  I'd ask people their opinions, but most people either love stuff like Sailor Moon (now that show is ridiculous) or they like the stuff with an incredible amount of senseless violence.  I'm not into the stuff for those reasons.  I like the shows because of how much they make you think.  If you're not thinking over what is happening in the shows, you're not getting the story at all, I assure you.
I think television itself went down hill for me when they started showing all that reality tv crap, and the fact that it's still around is a sad, sad sign.  Who even watches most of that crap anymore?  I mean, come on.  The only reason it's still around is because it's cheap to make.  Cable companies wonder why they are losing so much business to Netflix and Hulu and other interent viewing sites.  It's because they show actual shows, not crap.  If I'm wanting to watch a show, I sure don't even think about turning the tv on, unless I turn on my Wii at the same time.  I don't even know if America actually makes anything aside from reality tv shows.  It seems that most of the stuff I do watch that is live action is produced in Canada.  It's sad when Canada makes better shows that the US, but I think they've been doing that for years.  It's like it's illegal to make anything worth watching in this country.
