冰糖黑芝麻糊

I was being stubborn today and wanted to make 芝麻糊 by hand. So I pounded away at the black sesame seeds over and over again until they were worn into a fine paste. Unfortunately, it was too much strain for the poor marble pestle I was holding. It broke in two.

I was defeated, so we dug out the old family blender and an AC transformer. Although ( Read more... )

we have two coffee grinders in our apartment - one for grinding coffee beans, and one for spices. or maybe sesame seeds.

If you can get your coffee grinder to turn the seeds into powder, then you can make this dessert.

i just have to figure out where to find black sesame seeds, although i suspect that will actually not be very difficult at all in seattle.

by the way, your recipes tag is very handy. after the unbelievable success of that last pasta recipe, i'm eyeing some more things to try. i think fish cakes might be next.

that looks pretty good. I'd add a tiny bit of dark chocolate to the mix and a few slivers of ginger... It's a very yummy combo...

Everyone learns the hard way -- don't pound with a marble pestle. Pound with a wooden pestle. (Blenders and grinders are easier, but the texture is different.)

I think that a granite mortar and pestle might be a good alternative. Those seem to be designed for pounding and are very generous.
