There was a television sitting in my living room doing basically nothing. At the NitiHouse, it was connected to the cable company, Vidéotron, because they never disconnected it when the last tenant left.
I moved it to the new place because, well, one doesn't just leave televisions lying about. So it stood on top of a dresser, facing the couch and being blank. And then I thought to myself, "Self, wouldn't it be great to be able to watch things on the television?" And then I thought some more, because I don't like watching television. And then I remembered that I was geeky.
I had a set of speakers and put them next to the television. I then got myself a computer that could out S-Video. Plugged them all together and then installed
Debian on the computer. A coupld hours later and I'm typing this on the couch. I thought that reading things off a television would be really difficult; surprisingly untrue.
I have this strange compulsion to get an Apple ][ emulator and run it to indulge in nostalgia.
