This time I would like to turn your attention to your environment because even if you don't notice it - it affects directly You and your way and quality of life.
This can be best compared to a child's performance in school. If his/hers parents are good to the him/her and the child has everything needed provided :food, shelter, peace, enough sleep ,help with the homework ect. they will get good grades and unfortunately the opposite: if the child doesn't have all this or most of it will have poor grades, because his/her basic needs are not satisfied and it is really hard to focus on something else other than the problems (lack of sleep ,hunger, family problems,feeling abandoned ect.) Of course, there are exceptions, but let's stick to the effects environment has to a person.
This is also true for any plant. If its environment meets its needs it will grow ,bloom and bear fruit. If not it will wilt and die.
As grown ups we have a certain control over our environment but never complete (weather, politics,economics ect.)
Let's explore the things we can control and change them to work in our best interest.
!!! Work environment .It is well known that if you plan to work on something you need space and the necessary tools.You can't work if you don't have electricity, Internet and device that connects to the Internet.If you can read this then your basic needs are met.
Let's continue:
-Order.Make sure your desk and room are clean and inspire you to work. It is hard to work in a mess or if your yesterday's dinner dishes smell by the computer .
-Peace.Since any kind of work can't be done if you are constantly distracted you need peace.This also applies to SFI- if not even more because we can be constantly interrupted by family members since we work from home.Pick some quiet hours to work or go to different room.This will save you time as you wont have to edit/delete the errors.
If you want to work with music you can load some video/MP3 or put the radio on. Although, if your connection is slow don't use the Internet to play the music. Just don't use aggressive music, that will do you more bad than good.
-Inspiring pictures. As you probably know people put pictures of what they want in life in order to attract that in theirs.So, put some inspiring quotes,SFI logo/pictures,money, your dream house ect.. on your wall or desktop.
-Make sure that you are warm (if it is cold) or cooled (if it is too hot) Being uncomfortable and annoyed from shivering or sweating can be a distraction and obstruction.It is good to have a water nearby so you won't have to go to the kitchen every time you feel thirsty.
-Breaks.Take breaks when you feel stiff or if you become nervous, frustrated or anxious.It is best to take a walk or just move around the house/room a bit.Or even change the room .We work with people from all over the world and you are bounded to feel like this at some point. It is best to keep your head cool and your heart open.
-Outdoors. If the weather is good you can work outdoors.That is refreshing environment. Just make sure you keep your device dry and safe.
Now the hard part:
Sometimes our home/work/social environment (our own family ,spouse,partner or friends) can be a ''problem''.They may constantly ''remind'' you of how you are wasting your time with this job and how you are better off with something else.Some may even mock,offend or abuse you.Don't let them! It is best to stay true to your beliefs and ignore them.Try to avoid them and work when they are not home ,when they sleep or if possible go to some place with free wi -fi.
My sister constantly teased me in the beginning and I kept saying: ''Fine ,that is your opinion, thanks for your input ,much appreciated'' and I kept doing my thing.
Keep away from negative people no matter how much you love them. If you love yourself and you want to progress in life you can't keep ''feeding'' these people your positive energy.
Time is expendable and so are we. Don't waste it on people that don't appreciate you.They will eventually either learn how to appreciate you or will leave you if you are of no use for them. (Obviously this doesn't apply to your under-aged children.)
To make up for the loss of negative people find and connect with positive people.How to do that? There are TONS of blogs and articles online about how to be positive and what positive people do different from negative an so on,so if you don't know how, explore that area a bit more as it is important. You know how they say: ''You are the company you keep''.
Further more, in your Team, make sure that you have positive environment by encouraging, praising and rewarding the team.Make sure that there are no fights in the team but only friendly competition as that may be very dangerous. Always be aware of this .
A few more tips:
-Do your best to change/improve your environment.Make your home comfortable place .Add beautiful decorations, ''sparkling'' art , things that make you happy. Use aroma oils, meditative music and keep your place clean. You know how they say: ''It's the little things that make life big''.
-Throw or give away some old stuff and bring in new.Don't hoard things.
-If you have negative people in your life minimize the interaction with them.If they care about you they will ask why are you doing this and try to solve the problems you have with them. If there is no remedy it is best to let them go.
-Learn how to meditate. It is said that it can replenish your energy quickly if you do it right.
-Improve yourself as you being part of the environment are changing the environment by changing yourself.
Finally, if you can't change/improve your environment ,replace it for better.
