(Fourth week of December, Year 446)
Soft buzz of lesson flowed by Joker, not really touching him. He felt so sleepy. Lazy look around the classroom ascertained him that almost all of his classmates were feeling the same.
Teacher Nakajima was repeating the same thing again and again in his awfully dull voice but no one paid attention to him. No surprise here. It was the end of the year and all of them were exhausted by preparations to the upcoming festival. The girls in front of Joker were talking in hushed tones, blushing and smiling all the time and showing something to each other on the small parches of paper. Must have something to do with the stupid “romance-confess event” which would be held on Fresh Year Party. Approaching Fresh year meant also that the competitions start very soon and Kame… Kame, being his stupid stubborn self was exhausting him self to no end on kendo practice.
It was just a week, when his little brother’s coach found Koki in the corridor and asked him to bring the message that Kame is expected to be on practices “as soon as possible”.
Stupid jerk. School doctor and kendo coach in one person. Knowing all about Kame that coach could easily black-mail them and used that constantly. Well, to be honest, Koki couldn’t deny that Kame loved to be in kendo club. Because that’s there he could cast off all of his ‘girly garments’ and act like a real man. And his coach used this… and the knowledge about Kame being a boy… and really hardworking… and obedient to that stupid coach.
Koki sighed. It wasn’t actually doctor’s fault that brothers were on the run, and the man kept brothers’ secret really well. The thing is just that every time when Kame was sick, coach would endlessly urge him to recuperate completely in short time, not going soft on his lil’ brother even once.
“He decided to be on girls’ team, so he should bear with it” - that bastard was so confident, knowing that one word - and brothers would be expelled from the school in the nick of the time. Well, that doctor didn’t even want to take Kame in the team at first. Why then? Oh, it was because of that time, five years ago, when the lead team member of kendo club broke her leg in two days before competition and coach found out about Kame’s identity at the same time. Who would even think that it is possible to see just from one glance, that Kame isn’t a girl. And why the heck Kame tried to get into the club in the first place. Oh, okay, he knew the answer on that one. But still… Kame shouldn’t have taken risk like that then and he shouldn’t exhaust himself like this now. Really, this turtle…

“I’m home~” - tired greeting was heard from the door and Koki rushed there to get his brother out from all the layers of clothes. It was beastly cold outside and Kazu looked like a ball of white fur… or like a snowman.
“How are you?” - asked Koki.
“’kay~ just tired~” - whispered boy and Koki cursed again. “You should drop out from kendo club. It’s killing you”.
“No faster when damned pills” - smiled Kame, allowing his brother to rescue him from within all the garments. “Pills for kills~” - he was slurring drunk-alike. Like a happy drunkard, to be precise.
Maybe it was for the better, that old hag decided to give brothers some free space and got them their own apartment close to the school. On the other side, it was about two hours from the stadium there the Competitions would be held. That means they need to get up at five o’clock next morning. And Koki’s watch showed him like... eleven o’clock already???
“That’s it. Get in the bed! Right now!”
“Ha~i” - the smaller boy got the couch in the hall and crashed there. Koki sighed again, folding all the clothes and putting them away one by one.
“You’ll just never change, stubborn turtle” - he chuckled. “Are you hungry?”
“Ate already” - yawn. -”Sensei treated us to great dinner” - big yawn -”, so we shall win tomorrow!”
“When do you~?” - asked Koki… but already in vain. His brother was sound asleep. “Stubborn turtle…chan”.
