Location: The Forum, Laney College, Oakland, CA 94607
$5-10 suggested donation…students: free

This Saturday, September 15th at the Forum at Laney College, leading consumer Non-GMO advocate Jeffery Smith, and well-known author and environmentalist, John Robbins, will be discussing: The Truth About GMOs…A Case for Labeling a FREE event for students.

Unbeknownst to many students and faculty at Laney, the majority of all processed foods in the US contain GMOs and most of us eat these on a daily basis without even knowing it. African American and Latino minorities (which make up the bulk of the Peralta population) are the groups hardest hit by the detrimental health effects of these unstudied products because of lack of access to quality foods.

We feel it is important that students gain a greater understanding of the science of GMOs, the threat they pose to the environment and public health, their predominance in processed foods, and the Prop 37 campaign for labeling - a grassroots initiative to ensure we know what’s in the food we eat.
