Before I got married, I'd bought 10 yards of grey 100% silk twill and 10 yards of forest green 100% silk twill from Denver Fabrics, because I had this crazy idea of making my wedding dress & the Best Woman's dress.
Well, I did make my dress, but out of regular satin, and the Best Woman bought herself an emerald cocktail dress instead. That was fine.
Today, in anticipation of the 7.25 weeks I have to sew before Coronation, I decided I'd make a new formal rubahka to wear under a brocade letnik. And I decided to use the forest green twill.
Let me state for the record: If you EVER have the opportunity to pull 10 yards of freshly hot-washed, hot-dried 100% silk twill out of a dryer and swath it around you, I HIGHLY recommend it!!! So smooth floaty warm, pure decadence against the skin, flutters on a breath of air! I was having a total fabric-gasm.
It's almost too awesome to cut up.
