So Whitney really does cry every time she's defeated, as it turns out, but you can distract her fairly easily by showing her cute Pokemon. [happy affirmative chirp from the Cleffa! Oshitari just looks amused.] Perhaps something to keep in mind, if you plan to challenge her.
On a different subject entirely, I don't suppose anyone has noticed any particular pattern to the new arrivals? Quite a few people from my world appeared in New Bark all at once this week. Not that I'm complaining, but it does seem a bit odd. Has anyone else had a large group from their world arrive suddenly like this?
It does mean I have to head back to Cherrygrove briefly, though. Which I'd say would be an interesting change of pace, except as I recall there isn't much actually there. Ah, well. Hopefully it at least has some kind of library...
