Our church started a special Saturday evening gathering & worship for 20 something members & friends earlier this year. They decided that they would have some kind of service project on the rare 5th Saturday of a month.
The first one was this past weekend and the rest of us were invited to join in as on a work project for Giving Brick, a non profit which gathers old LEGO bricks and sets, recycles them back into retail-quality LEGO sets, and gives those to abused and neglected kids. LEGOs are one of the most requested toys for 10-12 year olds and never donated because of their expense and because people want to give toys for younger children.
About 30 of us gathered in circles around tables and separating assembled bricks, discarding the broken and the items which were not LEGOs. It was a fun hour and we went through everything that had been brought.
