Death Cab For Cutie / Travis Morrison

So last night I went to see Death Cab For Cutie for the second time this year. I left the house around 6:15 PM, and took the red line all the way up to Lawrence, where I was meeting BJ. I got there at around 7:00, and BJ was 2 trains behind me, so he showed up about 15 minutes later. We walked over to the Riviera and walked up to the front, with like 2 rows of people in front of us.

Travis Morrison was first. He was mainly my reason for going, since I liked Dismemberment Plan so much. His new band consisted of himself on keyboard and vocals, a chick on keyboards and vocals, another guy on keyboards, a guy on drums, and a guy doing random percussion. Needless to say, they are nothing like Dismemberment Plan. I don't think I enjoy the all-keyboard setup as much as the setup on his album (which has guitars and such). Travis Morrison still played how he did in Dismemberment Plan, with that huge smile on his face the whole time. The chick was.. interesting, to say the least. They played most of the songs off Travistan, but no "Song For The Orca". They also covered Ludacris' "What's Your Fantasy?". All in all, they were entertaining and will be back in December.

Death Cab For Cutie's set had a good number of older songs, including "Fake Frowns" and "Amputations". There really isn't much to say about them that hasn't already been said in the post I made after the first time I saw them. They really do have great sound engineers, though, because their sound was near perfection. During "A Movie Script Ending", there were 3 metrosexuals in front of me bobbing their heads from left to right in unison. I took that opportunity to make humping motions to the two guys directly in front of me. I also gave them the humping motions during "Transatlantacism" when they engaged in a group emo hug.

All in all, an entertaining night of music.

On an unrelated note, this is for whoever hasn't heard it yet:
