So I work a shipping store that does electronic fingerprinting and then we send the prints electronically to the FBI who check them against their database. Then people can get their clearance to be nurses and teachers or adopt kids or whatever they need it for. Work does a lot of other stuff but I'm the technician for the fingerprinting so I spend a lot of my day holding hands with 30 to 50 strangers. It's a lot less strange than that sounds actually. I'm pretty good at being professional about it. There's just some real odd things that happen. And annoying ones.
And then the construction workers who come in, man, I kind of hate them. They have terrible prints to begin with, their hands are all banged up and so they're degraded, but they come in with dirty hands! They're like, "oh does that matter?" And I'm like... not only does it matter, but I don't really want to touch you, okay?
Mostly people are really patient though. I feel super bad when someone with bad prints comes in and I have to spend like 20 minutes trying to get them to go through. But most of the time people tell me that I'm the fastest they've ever been printed. Which makes me pretty proud.
Here's the best part of all this though, okay. The other day, okay, this guy comes in and no lie, his name was Sebastian Moran. I almost couldn't contain myself. I wanted to ask if he knew Moriarty, but I was afraid the joke would fall flat. BUT I KNEW YOU'D ENJOY IT INTERNET. XD
