Writer's Block: Human Nature

Lots of good answers on here!

For me, compassion and indifference as the two opposing forces of 'good' and 'evil'. I have seen and read the most amazing stories of compassion and love for fellow human beings, for spreading joy and goodness in the world.

Conversely, indifference is far worse than hatred. Hatred generally tends to be limited to the very few individuals, but through general indifference, they are allowed to do terrible terrible things. The famous poem from WWII describing how at first they took this group, then that group, and I said nothing because I was not a communist/jew/etc. Then they came for me...and there was no one to speak for my defense. It is unfortunate that so much great sadness and pain have been perpetuated due to the indifference of otherwise good people.
