Well, so much for being around on LJ more often hurhur :(.

Lots of things have been happening since the last time I posted. My grandmother came over for about a week in August which was awesome but meant I had to be out in town right after work everyday, so it was a little draining.

Also met up with that Korean exchange student, Scarlett a few times last month. The first time, she wanted to check out the Fringe Theater festival but it turned out not to be what she had in mind (she heard it as 'French festival'), and we ended up just taking her around to the all comic shops nearby haha. She's a really huge comic and game fan and even secretly used the travel funds her parents gave her to buy an XBox lol... The second time, she invited us over for an okonomiyaki party and we wound up playing multiplayer Beautiful Katamari with Shota and Masashi, other exchange students. I discovered that I'm very bad at 2P katamari, as I like to roll where I please!!

Two weeks ago my favorite cousin was preparing to leave to Japan for school, so we tried to cram a year's worth of Stupid Activites™ into an evening. We ended up playing Jenga (with Stupid Rules™ we invented that involved strange methods of removing blocks, depending on what number you rolled on a die) and Risk (with lots of backstabbery and under-the-table alliances). He won't be coming back home during the breaks, so I might have an excuse to head over and visit him during the winter... I can summarize it already: "Hi, I'm here, you're still alive, good! Take me to Comiket, kplzthx D:." /gg.

Took a day off last weekend and went to check out the Dragon exhibit at the local museum before it packs up. There were some neat little things in there, although I swear some of the chinese displays were bought at Yue Hwa rofl. They had a big 2up of one of the McFarlane dragons on display (much more impressive than the avaliable hunks of plastic), as well as a cute dancing dragon marionette made up of a mismash of animal bones/bits. The mechanical setup to make it move was more interesting than the parts, though. I think the bio student in me got out and was being overly critical.

Keep biting off more than I can chew, project-wise, which has eaten up my free time and weekends. I shouldn't complain about work offers, but then again I should learn to say no as well I guess D:. At least I have other fun gift-things to work on when I take breaks from projects. If you haven't noticed, I lack time management skills.

Day-job is still going alright, although I'm starting to get a little miffed at the company. I found out that the office staff all get paid benefits, while the people in the workshop who have to suck foam and fumes all day don't :/. Their excuse is that they don't have enough money since they just invested in a big partnership, but thinking how much each of our project orders costs, and how many projects we finish a month.. I'm not so sure. Hermie's been working here for six years, and he still hasn't gotten any :/. On the plus side, I think I've gotten a lot more relaxed and comfortable around the shop for some reason. We're at the point where we can poke fun and insult each other without worrying about causing real offense. Lately we've been trying to scare each other while someone is concentrating on carving, or screaming lines from Old Gregg at each other.

*whinewhinewhine* (I'm very good at it!) Ugh, this journal is slowly turning into a not-sketchdump journal >:(!

been busy, so not a lot of stuff since August and I still have a ton of things I owe x_x;;. Must learn to work fasterrr.

I usually don't post commission works, but I liked how this one was going. WIP shot of a concept sheet for a mascot costume.

And extra sketch.

This one was over a month late for myndii D: D: D:

Work stuffs:

Hee, I really like how the sloth turned out (dopey smile!). Chris did the maquette for this guy. Forgot to take a pic before he got wrapped though, again.

This is one of the pics they gave me as reference:

hurhurhhur, they really look like that! Like a sleepy Chewbacca...

Did I ever post these? I forgot D:. The story behind it is that one day, there was a small child out by our picnic table with black crayon. (The shop is in some light industrial area, so random, unattended small child is an odd sight). Here's what he drew:

FREAKY. And then I had to draw my own.

Looks a bit like No-Face, whoops.
