Movie Review -Aeon Flux

Dec 05, 2005 23:09

My newfound attention to this blog still comes up lacking for information. So I think I'm gonna go ahead and try and make a habbit of posting a review of any new movie that I see. Since Tonight I saw Aeon Flux, I'll go ahead and write what I thought!

GRADE: C-

This grade may be a bit bolstered by the fact that the last movie I saw was Walk the Line, which was horrendous, but I think it's likely accurate. The biggest problem I had with the movie was the speed with which everything unfolded. I love a fast paced movie, but this was a big rushed, and with an overall time of about 86 minutes, I dont think it was necessary to cram. The plot line was a bit unimaginative when it was an Anime Cartoon, and they didnt improve on it much. There's a lot of anti stem-cell research underlays that dont belong on the big screen. The characters are wholly under developed, and I think there was a lot more room to make this movie anything from C to B+.

As far as the good aspects...I mean obviously Ms. Theron looked hot as hell, and came as close to naked as I've personally seen her! The special effects were pretty nice, should this movie have come out before the matrix it probably would have been hailed as a special effects triumph. Unfortunately it's clear that Ms. Theron is incapable of any of the manuvers she's seen doing, which gives the action scenes a really jumpy feel.

I really feel like there could have been two GREAT movies peeled out of this concept, but put together it just didnt mesh completely. Was it a complete waste of money? No, I wasnt nodding off in any way, but will I give it my seal of approval? That's another no.

Under what conditions should you see this movie?

- You're not the one paying.
- You're with a girl who wants to see a Chick flick and can be pursuaded to see this.
- You're planning on seeing Walk the Line.
- You're movie hopping.
- It plays on HBO.
- You were a huge fan of the Anime series.
