Kitty Progress.

Today we visited the SPCA in Fielding (about 15 minutes away). This is the shelter that homes the kittens you all voted on the other week. I've spent so much time looking at that website that as we pulled up, it kinda felt like we were going to meet a bunch of celebrities.

Oohhhhhmygosh they had so many kittens. WAY more kittens than cats, which I thought was interesting. I always figured it was the other way around.

She led me into this pen full of the slightly older ones who had all been desexed (these included the lovely Ollie and Koda and another cute black one who climbed up my chest.) Honestly, they were amazing. It'd make even the biggest animal hater melt. Like a little tribe of cuteness running all over the place.

Then we went through to the next room and saw some TWO DAY OLD kittens. Obviously they wont be going anywhere for a while but they were soooo teeny tiny!

Then the kicker, we went through the final door. And came to Pinto. Who you may remember, won the LJ poll. Guys, seriously. He's so much cuter in real life. As soon as we walked in, he climbed up the front of the cage and basically spread himself across the wire meaoowing "TAKE MEEE! TAKE MEEEEEE!". This was cut short when his fellow cage mate (and SISTER!!!) Pagan, knocked him out the way and miaowed "No, No, NO! Take Meeeeee!".

I had no idea they were related. And we're chatting away and joking about how it would be much better to take 2. And the woman says that actually, if we're going to be at work all day. And they're left inside (they're too young to go out) then they're much better and less destructive with a playmate. I giggle at this and glance at Matt who's forming an "on no..." look on his face.

Then he goes..

"...do you want to take them both?"
"-YES!"
"No, think seriously. Do you want to take them both?"
*pretends to think for a couple of minutes* "YES!"

And so it was, that we became the pround owners of

Pinto AND Pagan.

We don't actually have them yet. They're being sent to the vets here in town next week to be desexed and have their injections and stuff. We're picking them up on Tuesday night. I find it quite funny that we ended up with the cat who got the most votes AND the cat who got the least. It's pretty fitting though. Plus Pinto was the first one I liked, and Pagan was Matt's original favourite. We're already throwing around new names for them. I think we're going to get to know their personalities before we decide though.

Now we just have to break the news to Scruffy....
