I watched the remaining 80 minutes, and was not as outraged as I had thought. I actually thought Tim Meadows was very funny. I didn't really know he had any strengths, but the straight-man routine works.
Of course, the entire film would have been revolutionary, if every single significant element hadn't been covered in Heathers. Even the ending was a ripoff of the discarded conclusion of Heathers: the prom in heaven. Christ! There was even a lunchtime-survey involving the new kid and popular kids. EVEN AWKWARD VOMITING!!! SOMEONE EVEN WALKS INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC!!!
The film is not an homage or a remake: it is a ripoff. It doesn't have the balls to be as dark as Heathers, and the ending is a copout. The real ending should have been everyone ending up miserable.
Final analysis: No new ground is covered, and perhaps more importantly this shows how truly awesome of a film Heathers is. I'd kinda like to read the book the film is based upon, to see if that even shows anything new. I think the only real question here is whether Lindsay Lohan in this film compares in hotness to Winona Ryder in Heathers...No way.
