Ok, so I don't really post journal entries that often, but I felt this needed to be shared.
As I'm sure most of you know, there is a hate group called Westboro Baptist Church who are best known for picketing soldier funerals and their hatred of gays. Their website is godhatesfags.com. All they preach is hate.
Now this group is coming to my university to protest the Florida Collegiate Pride conference that our Gay-Straight Alliance is putting together. I just can't think of anything much more disgusting than this. These are the people that picketed at Heath Ledger's funeral last year holding signs that said "Heath is in Hell" and "God Hates Fags" because he was in gay-friendly movie "Brokeback Mountain." I can't believe they have the gaul to come here.
Although instead of getting upset about it, I've decided to counter-protest and mock them with signs. Such as: "DOG HATES DYSLEXIA," "I GAVE MYSELF TO JESUS AND HE NEVER CALLED ME BACK," "BUCKFUTTER!," "GOD HATES FAGS?" with a picture of a cigarette, "GOD HATES SHRIMP," "GOD HATES FIGS," and "GOD HATES SIGNS."
I personally can't wait for this. These people need to be shown that hatred will not be tolerated.
