i'm in paris. i am invisible to most people around me (which is good....i don't scream "I'm American!!" to the French) but then again some stare me up and down as if I was a 6' turnip walking around on legs made of cats. you get the picture. it's been very difficult transitioning into this culture, but everyday I make more and more progress. I miss lots of things, but there are so many new things i've never been able to try. to elaborate:
1. burritos: medium sized, filled with the perfectly sized proportions of whole or black beans, rice, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, salsa. THEY DO NOT EXIST HERE.
2. crepes: less than adequate alternative to said burrito. THEY ARE PLENTIFUL, BUT SMALL.
3. cheese: thousands of varieties and flavors. this is good. GOOD
4. bread: only seems to come in long, skinny variety (kind of like me), this is bad. BAD
*although someone was telling me they saw "confederate bread" with the confederate flag on it and it was just white bread. funny.
anyway it's nice to walk along the rive seine and i've met lots of interesting people.
lots of shows in europe that i'll be able to see as well. to name a few: yage, majority rule, do make say think, broadcast, radiohead, lali puna, ms john soda, couch, notwist, IRON MAIDEN.
yep i guess i'm pretty happy, but i do miss everyone back home. that means you sarah and luke and jessie and nate and chris and dan and well there's more than that but i have a sniff sniff kind of cold and i really do't want to type anymore. with that i say goodbye but anyone who knows me should know i miss them and i'll keep updating as often as i can. au revoir.
