Oh the joys of being home sick.

I'm not really THAT sick, but I really needed a day off or I felt like I would get sick. I hate sleep headaches. :( I want cereal. *child mode*

Lately, I've been going to school, preparing for my auditions and such, and just plain working very hard. I stopped working at the make up store I was working at because I didn't have enough hours available while the store was open.

At school it seems like I've been intimidating a lot of girls! :P Most of them are really sweet and ask for advice on pieces rather than being catty. But ONE GIRL has been making mention of a whole manner of things about how good she is, how high she can sing, what rep she's singing, EVERY TIME I SEE HER. There was even a point where she was talking about how Nathalie Dessay, in her younger years, nearly laid flat on her back singing some whatever high note, and this girl GOT DOWN ON THE FLOOR AND DEMONSTRATED.

It's like how children show off to new adults they're around. I would NEVER get on the floor and show off like that to someone I was intimidated by. I'd probably be like the other girls and just ask them about their performance practices and what kinds of vocalises they practice and such.

I think the biggest problem with this girl is that she's used to being the best and it is scary to have someone come in from another (better) school that is also used to being the best. I'd probably be intimidated too. The difference is that at UM there were always graduate students who were better than me. That's not the case at this school. There's a sort of muddy middle ground of quality in terms of voices.

Oh well. They've been having me lead some rehearsals for Opera class so that's been cool. Sometimes I'm like, "Oh god, what am I supposed to say?!?!?!" but I suppose that's how I'll become a great teacher and leader, haha.

I have a lot of cute new voice students that I'm really happy about. I've got 8 students in all, including Carlos, who is also my new Ukulele teacher. We are trading lessons so we're not having to shell out dough! :) Ukulele has been pretty fun even though all I do is scales so far. I can play a couple easy songs, but otherwise I am definitely a novice. It's still fun!

My newest student is 9 years old and she is ADORABLE! She has a very strong voice that I will be very proud and happy to instruct. Now to think of all the cool songs she can do!!!!! :)

I made a new friend at school and we eat lunch together every day. He is really cool and married... to a man!!! It's amazing. He's so cute too when he talks about his husband.

I'm taking a conducting class too! Wahoo!

That's pretty much my life right now, with the exception of reading Shinshi Doumei Cross. It's so goooooodddd!!!!! I love Haine!!! :)
