In a moment of sheer panic last night, I called my good friend who is in grad school in Boston studying French lit. She helped me calm down and walked me through what I might want to talk about.
I ended up talking about the Enlightenment as my "defining moment" and used the Encyclopedia, "Emile" and both the Declaration des Droits de l'Homme et du Citoyen and the feminin equivilent for my works. I hope it's ok - I felt pretty confident going into it this morning, but you know what happens when you get too cocky about something.
Oh, and they changed the stupid poem - not the one I was expecting AT ALL! It was a fucking SPLEEN poem. I hate Baudelaire! He's so depressing!
Anyway, I'll know the results in about a month. Now that I'm done with grad school, I'm finally on my first free summer since I started teaching! woo!
(And I've been meaning to tell you, bonne chance with the job search! I'm leaving my current position in a year, and am also contemplating not returning to education... we'll see!)

enjoy your summer off! best. thing. EVER. I'd say it's the one thing I miss about teaching, but I've had almost two months off now, so it evens out (although not quite on purpose).
what do you want to do if you don't go back to teaching?
