Adam stood on the park's edge, watching the girl swing. He sighed. He understood that she was different, like he had been. He didn't recall much of his human life still, but even as Liam, as a demon, he knew what different was like. He didn't mind it all that much, but he knew it had to be even harder for a little girl.
A little girl who just wanted to swing.
He stepped across the grass towards the swing set and stopped, watching the swing move back and forth. The girl grinned and waved to him when she spotted him. He smiled back and gave a nod. Her feet hit the ground and she pulled herself to a stop, kicking up dirt along the way.
"Hi!" She jumped from the swing and launched herself towards him. He knelt down with a grin and caught her in a hug.
"Hello Molly. How are you?"
"I'm good. You're here!" She pulled back, keeping her hands on his shoulders. "Why are you here?"
"Because," he said with a small smile. He reached into the pocket of his jacket and pulled out a gray and black stone that had been chiseled down into an elephant. "This showed up on my doorstep and I thought...I know a young lady that might like it." He held it out to her in his palm. She took it with a smile.
"It didn't show up," she said knowingly.
"Mmm, no. It didn't."
"It's really for me?"
"It is," he nodded.
She grinned and threw her arms around his neck. "Thank you, I love it."
He smiled and hugged her back. "You are very welcome, Molly."
"Would you like to swing with me?"
He looked over at the swings and considered it, then nodded. "I would love to."
