He was supposed to be following Erris. Keeping an eye on the demon until Shade was ready to get Amy for the plan. Liam had no problem doing what Shade asked, of course. Shade was his friend, his mentor. Even if he didn't remember him. He felt for him. And despite Shade being the boss, Liam felt protective of him. There was something about the young demon that seemed to need someone. And Liam had no where else to be.
So spending a day following Erris around above ground was not a problem. Until he got distracted. By everything.
The thing about losing all memory of who he was was that he also lost what everything looked like. But he knew it all. He knew the trees, the breeze on his face. He knew the dog.
Liam crouched down and held a hand out. Let him smell you. The dog sniffed his fingers then licked his palm and pressed her nose into his hand. He brushed her long, golden fur and scratched her ears. A smile came to his lips.
"Good dog," he spoke. The dog started to bounce around at the attention and Liam chuckled. This was what fun was. His eyes caught sight of a stick and he bent to pick it up, then threw it. He watched as the dog ran after it.
Erris was out of sight, but Liam wasn't concerned. He was taking everything in. Trying to remember. He knew what Shade told him of himself, but sometimes it didn't feel right. He wasn't sure that he felt like a demon. Maybe that was why he couldn't reach his powers. He didn't feel like an angel, either. He knew he wasn't alive. He felt that. He felt the body he walked in. He wasn't a piece of the body, he was just in it.
All he knew was what he felt and what Shade told him.
After a few more tosses of the stick, drops began to fall from the sky. Liam rubbed a hand to his forehead and looked up. More drops came. Rain. He closed his eyes and felt the cool raindrops hit his face. He held his hands out, palms up. He remembered rain, but he couldn't recall anything ever feeling so good.
