Catching Up and Whatnot

Noah packed up for the evening and made his way from his office to the parking deck to his car. He tossed his briefcase in and started the drive over to Murphy's place. He'd been pretty busy with a couple difficult cases lately and hadn't really seen much of her. He was cheering up, though, with the thought of doing so

It was just a rough day all around. From the time she walked into the office to the time she walked out, it had just been one thing after another. It wouldn't have been any different from any other bad day except for the rookie. The rookie who had questioned how hard she fought, what this job meant to her. That had gotten to her.

So she went to the gym, beat up a punching bag for hours, now her hands were sore but her temper was back under control. She answered the door fresh from the shower and in her comfiest, oldest cotton.

"Hey, doc, come on in."

He stepped through the door and looked her over slowly, everything inside of him starting to heat up. "Hey," he replied with a smile, his hand moving against her arm gently.

She smiled, a little surprised at how nice it was to see him. "Hey. You want a drink or something?"

"No, I'm okay." He gave her arm a tug and pulled her closer. "You doing okay?"

She shrugged. "Just a rookie who doesn't like how I'm running my investigation. She's going to whine to someone so it's going to be a battle of the reputations. Which is just going to make a lot of useless trouble for me and suddenly, I'm pissed all over again."

He smiled a bit and moved closer. "I think I'm supposed to be making you forget." He leaned in and kissed her.

"Yeah, you are." She slipped in before he kissed her. She reached out and put her arms around his shoulders as she kissed him back.

He grinned into the kiss and moved his arms around her waist. "Mmm, miss me or something?"

"You were gone?" she teased. She wasn't going to admit that yes, she had missed him a little.

"Ouch," he chuckled. He pulled her hips closer to his. "That hurt."

"Aw, suck it up tough guy," she grinned, leaning into him. "Or should I kiss it and make it better?"

A growl sounded deeply from his throat and he kissed her neck. "Oh you should."

She leaned her head back, purring happily. "Then we should head upstairs and get more comfortable."

He picked her up. "If you insist." He grinned and made his way to the stairs.

She wrapped her legs around his hips, "I insist. In fact, I more than insist, I demand."

"Mmm, bossy, I like that." He started up the stairs, his lips working against her neck.
