     I was very, very impressed with this movie. Having been based on a novel, you can sense that there are often themes introduced throughout the film perhaps too generalized to make sense in the context of 2 and 1/2 hours, but somehow, even after rather absurd elements that should often warrant a call for explanation are put into play, the movie

i didn't read the book, but i loved this movie as well

I thought the plot was amazing (and so were the characters) but for some reason, I remember leaving the theater feeling very dissatisfied and strange. Maybe I'll have to watch it again. I think it's interesting that they don't show the town pedophile in the preview at all, when he's really a main character of the film.

The ending left a little to be desired and I can understand why it would be disappointing to a lot of people. Also: pedophiles don't exactly sell movie tickets.
