The Wire is quickly becoming my favorite drama series of all time. Then again, is there any competition? Oz got bad after the first 3 and 1/2 seasons, Nip/Tuck is rapidly turning into a farce, Lost is fantastic but too far removed from reality to be taken seriously, Big Love is terrific but hasn't been on the air long enough to be appropriately judged, and there are still plenty of series like The Sopranos and Twin Peaks that I've yet to discover. I don't know where my pal Mike Balletta gets off saying that this show went downhill after the 2nd season; the third has been my favorite thus far and season 4 is off to a very impressive start. I remember being so disappointed when the last couple of seasons of Oz were plagued by inane plot elements such as ghost visits and improbable deaths, so it's good to see that while The Wire had maybe run out of things for their characters to do by the fourth and fifth seasons, they haven't (from what I have seen already) resorted to the absurd to keep things interesting. If anyone out there has watched the series and would like to discuss it sometime this weekend, don't hesitate to call me.
By the way, what is going on this weekend?
With the recent release of the new Indiana Jones movie going on this week, I can't help but ask: am I the only person who can't stand Harrison Ford as an actor? As a person he seems like a witty, personable guy, but I can't think of a single time I've ever wanted to see a Harrison Ford movie unless you count Apocalypse Now, where he had once scene. It's not that I think he's a bad actor per se, he's just never ever done anything that interests me. Are there any actors you feel this way about? Do you even know what I mean?
I support Obama (I guess), but I think it's very, very weird when people get super excited and enthusiastic about a presidential candidate, whether he, or she, be for or against my side of the argument. Maybe I'm weary of enthusiasm in general, but people seriously need to chill the fuck out about Barack. If elected he--like anyone else--is either going to make some serious mistakes or won't come close to fixing all the problems this country has even if he's able to avoid fucking it up worse than it is like a less capable candidate such as McCain would. Besides, you know that dude is going to be assassinated within 2 years in office, right? I'm calling it right now.
I think about 90% of people look better with their hair just a little bit longer than the way they cut it. 100% of girls do.
