Summer is rough. My days are generally composed of this:
-Wake up at around 10 or 11. If ten, I tune into Maury, if 11 I tune into what I call Nick Jr.'s surrealist hour block of programming; WonderPets! followed by Lazy Town.
-Around noon is when I leave my room, most likely to get myself a sandwich (nutella), and play with my dogs until the guilt trip that I expect my mother to give me forces me back to my room.
-From there I try to read through many of the books that have been rotting on my shelf for years. Right now I'm trying to get through American Psycho, A Short History of Nearly Everything, Intelligent Thought: Science Versus the Intelligent Design Movement, and a few others. By the end of the summer, I will have liked to have finished, as well; Naked, Lolita, House of Leaves, Assasination Vacation, Rules of Attraction, The Air Conditioned Nightmare, How we are Hungry and whatever else I can get through after that. It's not looking good for V. and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay.
-At around 2 I'll check the mail to see if a new Netflix movie came. Most often it's one of my mom's TV shows (Rescue Me), but so far I've been watching wonderful films by Michael Haneke (Benny's Video, The Seventh Continent) and horrible films by Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil: Apocalypse).
-Five O'Clock means another episode of Maury. Most of them aren't
this funny.
-Dinner is usually between 5:30-and-6, yet it takes me, on average, less than five minutes to eat dinner so that takes me straight to...
-Bath #1
-Between 7 and 11 there I am likely to repeat something I had done earlier, or most likely chat online with friends of mine who are far far away about how we should "try to hang out sometime." It never happens, but it's a gesture that makes me feel better about tomorrow, where I'll be doing the same thing.
-11-1 A.M. is my TV block of The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Kimmel's Monolouge/Letterman, Conan's monologue and then maybe Charlie Rose if he has an interesting guest.
-Bath #2 where I try to read some more.
-Rinse, Repeat.
-Sleep, repeat.
I hate summer.
