Today was a bad day, I had a panic attack and very bad subdrop but was comming out of it when I went to go get some food from the store.
Now, I am 30 this year, that is bad enough. I decided that I fancied having a little drink this evening. So I went to purchase a couple of small items of alcohol. Not only was I asked for ID at the checkout, but the staff refused to accept my three forms of Photo ID!!!! I had my passport, Visa and UK driving licence. And none of them were accepted as valid forms of ID. WTF?
Obviously I complained, the woman at the checkout went to speak to the management and aparently in California you have to have ID with you height on it. Now how in any way does this aid identification? Is a photo not good enough? If people cannot be identified from the photo alone how the hell is height going to help? Are people better at assessing height than photographic evidence that the person is who is shown on the ID? And the other thing, as far as I know no European passport has height information and neither do the European licences I have seen. So are no visiors that look slightly younger but can provide ID showing proof of age allowed to purchase alcohol? I was very pissed off and insulted that my countries ID was not considered "good enough". It seems only a Californian driving licence is valid. Am very cross.
