She made it a point to have only a couple of significant others. Asignificant other wasn't merely someone who she used for sex and toachieve an end--though sometimes her significant did get mixed up inboth of those things. She had only a few significants and a handful ofpotentials. But with every last one of them, the problem was always thesame: she could not please them. It was their fault as much as it washer own, and was rather a reflection on the sort of man she went for:certain of himself, arrogant, conceited. She liked her men to becapable, but also possess a short-sightedness. But for those who wereable to steal her heart-a situation she swore to herself that shewouldn’t allow to happen again-the problem was on her. She wasn’tstrong enough, wasn’t willing enough, to change for them. It alwaysseemed like she had to give more into keeping a relationship than thosetwo. She was the one who changed for them, but even with how much shechanged, how much of herself she gave up, they always wanted more andexpected something else from her. In the end, what she was fell shortof what either of them wanted.
