Thoughts for the morning

Last night I went to church and the story was that of the 10 leapers who went to Jesus and asked him to have mercy on them and cure them. So he sent them to see the priest and as they went they were cured. Only one of them came back to thank him for curing him. Jesus said did I not send 10 of you why did only one come back.
I know I know, I've never really pushed religion on any of you but this one service really hit me in some way.
So the priest went on to talk about in his homily. About how God gives us a gift every day. When we wake up in the morning that is a gift. Just like a lil child at Christmas who opens his gifts and is excited about what's inside for a moment then moves on quickly to the next gift and so on and so forth. The child forgets how important it was to open that first gift. They don't enjoy it. Or that they don't take the time to enjoy it. How can he? With so many gifts to choose from?
Just like the child we forget how many gifts God gives us. Everyday He gives us the gift of waking up in the morning and experiencing a new day. Everything that we have is given to us by God.
I have to remind myself that I am blessed. This is something that I had seemed to forget "trying to find the right gift". I keep thinking that the "right" gift is somewhere in the huge pile. And in that I forget to enjoy what I do have.
Sometimes we tend to forget that. Take the time to enjoy what we have now. Whether it is something so simple as a new day or the gift of friendship.
The best thing I can do is to rememeber all this and simply say "Thanks!"
