Re: Conan's Tonight show
After reading message boards and comments on news posts regarding the new Tonight Show, I just have a few things to say to the few naysayers speckled about:
The people in their mid 20's who think Jay Leno was funny at all is a mystery to me. You guys are too young to be that dull! Absurdity is funny!
There were some funny headlines from time to time on Leno, I will say that much.
Conan is playing it conservative, sure, it has been only two shows in! You people condemning him because of what you saw on day one never gave it a chance to start with, you only expected the show to fail. Don't feed me this "I watched it with an open mind" baloney, if you did, you'd give the man a real shot.
My theory behind Leno's miraculous gain in ratings, is because of Conan's popularity among younger viewers. "Leno has good guests sometimes, might as well watch him until Conan starts."
In any case, the first shows were good, and the show is going to be great. He'll probably lose to Letterman for a while, but he'll fit nicely into his groove and off he goes.
Also, people comparing him to john Stewart, John Stewart's program definitely more informative, but they're both vastly different shows, I don't think there's a comparison there.
