084: i can't wait each day just to see you walk / tryin' to move in close to get to where you are

It seemed impossible near the end, but I've managed to complete a batch for Round 19 at 20inspirations! This month's theme revolved around creating icons influenced by actual artists and artistic movements, and I'll be the first to admit that I know close to nothing about art, so this was a very daunting challenge. However, I tried my very hardest and for that, I am tremendously proud! I focused mostly on works of art by Wassily Kandinsky (cheerful colors and geometric shapes) and M.C. Escher (repetition and tessellation), but as I was nearing the home stretch, I hit a brick wall, and Jean-Michel Basquiat and Kasimir Malevich came to the rescue! As a means of allowing you to draw your own conclusions as to whether or not I captured the spirit of those artists's works, I'll link to the pieces that inspired me. The only exception will be my misguided attempt at pop art and the stuff inspired by Escher, whose general trademarks I kept in mind rather than concentrating on specific works of art. For my personal challenge, I pushed myself to create two rainbow sets (substituting pink for indigo), and that certainly boosted the degree of difficulty in this already tough round. Not sure what the hell I was thinking when I decided on giving myself a bigger headache! (BTW, the last few icons in this post were made for leverageland months ago. I just kept forgetting to post them until now.)

I'm deeply indebted to appleindecay for her endless support, cheerleading, and encouragement, both as a personal friend and as a fellow iconmaker. Bella, we've been friends for quite some time now, and I'm so grateful for your comforting words whenever I'm down and your giddy enthusiasm when I actually have something worth squeeing about! I can't recall a time when I didn't love your graphics, and your work only seems to grow more masterful, elegant, and self-assured with every passing post. Thank you for helping me become a better person and a better maker, babe! <3
