For this month at
20inspirations, participants could choose any of the challenges from the previous 12 months, so I focused on
Round 11, which involved 15 provided songs meant to inspire my work and 5 songs of my own choosing. I began it in October and ended up with only 2 completed icons, and since then, I've had this nagging feeling that I oughta finish what I started. I consider myself redeemed now no matter how I feel about the individual pieces. (For the record, I rather like most of them!) My personal challenge was to integrate original text into at least 5 of my icons, and I managed that for about 11 of them, but 4 of those landed in the alternates heap. Somehow, I've ended up with a very reddish/pinkish batch even though I'd wanted cool blue tones in so many of the pieces. I often can't execute the visions I see in my head. Oh well. I'm just super glad that I finally got to make a ton of Megan Fox icons again! Next to JGL, there's no one that I iconize more than her. (BTW, Joe found himself thrown into the "All This and Heaven Too" variations. I will go down with my Foxy McLoveitt crackship, dammit!) Obviously, she's not everyone's cup of tea, but hopefully, people can set aside their personal feelings toward her while checking out my work. If not...HATERS TO THE LEFT!
Additionally, I've got a few random
capchallenge entries and shareable requests (from those who who guessed previous posts' lyrics correctly) to unload, so those might entice people who aren't interested in MFox. (Boo, you whores!) Last, but not least, this post is dedicated to the brilliant
tinebrella, who I wish were around on LJ more often. She is one of the most generous and kind makers I know, and her first pack of textures found its way into so many of the icons in this batch. I thank you for that and for your warm friendship, Val! <333333333
In case you somehow missed the memo, I adore talking about icons, so feel free to chat me up! Any and all concrit or feedback is welcomed, so please don't hesitate to leave some. My feelings don't get hurt as long as people are polite, so hit me with the truth! :)
NOTE: When you snag something, please credit me and the comm, so people will stop friending me when they're merely searching for my graphics. Many thanks!
BONUS: The first person to correctly identify the song and artist/band whose lyrics I use in this post's title and LJ-cut text will get a SHAREABLE ICON REQUEST! (No cartoons or anime though please.) It would be awesome if Google were left out of the equation, but I wouldn't know either way, right? :P Congrats to
storylandqueen for correctly guessing "Spectrum" by Florence + the Machine!

1. I honestly don't know if this icon conveys the person who got cut off and "treat[ed] like a stranger" in the song or the one who did the cutting off. What I do know is that I'm obsessed with "Somebody That I Used To Know" and listened to it repeatedly while making the last 5 icons of my batch. Such a good song!
2. This one is easy enough to explain cuz well, she looks like she's watching someone abandon her. I really think the line "a sweet pain of watching your back as you walk" sums up the emotion I meant to convey.
3. I'm not sure what about the title or lyrics inspired this icon. It might have been "distant but looking good" since I obviously used a wide crop. I made it over two months ago though, so who knows?
4. I saw the photo of Megan and Fassboner together and instantly thought of "Something About Us" cuz there is just something so alluring and magnetic about those two people. Forget the lyrics. The song's title said it all, IMO!
5. "Broken Strings" has such melancholic lyrics, and I was trying to get across the idea of being wistful and lonely. Now that I look at it though, the stripes from the texture I used give the appearance of broken strings, which is also very fitting!
6. If I did my work right, then the super close crop and text should lend the piece a feeling of intimacy and also sad serenity.
7. The lyric "unlike you, I am not pretending" is the basis for this one. She's got that piercing stare like her bullshit meter is calibrated to detect any fakeness or shenanigans.
8. I chose the photo for this icon cuz init she looks rather tough but not aggressive, which suits the lyric "I am unarmed and I have no fear" to a tee!
9. The lines "This is a place where I don't feel alone / This is a place where I feel at home" inspired this idea of light and breezy carelessness. She's got the sun shining upon her, and she don't need anything else!
10. Okay, so this icon looks more like she's already achieved happiness instead of being in pursuit of it, but so what? "Everything that shines ain't always gonna be gold," but Megan's pretty golden in my book, and I love her radiant smile!
11. I bringz the irony by using a blood red background coloring scheme to an icon inspired by "We Don't Bleed." Funny, no?
12. It was way too easy cuz of the line "I stare at my reflection in the mirror / Why am I doing this to myself?" That looks like what she's doing and thinking in that particular image, so I'd chalk that icon up to fate and inevitability.
13. I had no clue what to do for this specific song, but I eventually latched onto the lyric "We can feel so far from so close" after seeing the pic of Megan staring off into the distance. You can barely read the text, but I actually kind like that about my work for once.
14. First of all, hooray for a Joshua Radin tune! Second, I like Megan being obscured by the dark blob in the texture. It's a rather literal interpretation of the line "Come find me."
15. I basically just wanted to try out a coloring technique that
sarisafari laid out in her recent Q&A and didn't know if it would match the lyrics or title at all. Fortunately, the coloring imparts a sorta thick, suffocating feeling to the piece, which feels very appropriate to me.
16. I'm so into this song that I knew I'd have to use it somehow for this challenge. The idea of interpreting words and poetry set the foundation for this composition with the newpaperish texture in the background.
17. Ummm, I came across a sexy photo of Megan holding a poker chip to her face, and "Poker Face" was an obvious candidate for one of my artist's choice songs. This was probably the most aggravating icon to make, but I stubbornly refused to give up on coloring it. It doesn't look as horrifying to me now as it did last weekend when I created it. Cold comfort, really, but I'll take it.
18. She looks the gorgeous girl that has the world at her feet, so "All the Right Moves" came to mind. This one just might be my fave of the bunch, perhaps cuz it gave me the least headache.
19. Megan would totally be the worst addiction a person could have so that line jumped right out at me. Sadly, I didn't have the energy to make my own text for this one. Just...no.
20. I meant to make a two-image split to reflect the title, but I ended up using two small slices to frame the middle pic instead.
