2008...we hardly knew ya.

Doesn't it feel like this year went by almost excessively fast?

In an effort to make BAC not feel like the only one who posts here anymore, I shall provide you with my year-end recap. Gomez told me that even numbered years are always better than odd, and in all truthfulness, this year wasn't too bad.

So here we go with the most notable moments of 2008. As usual, I'll try to do the chronologically, but according to Gomez, I have the worse memory ever, so just hang with me.

-New Year's fucking sucked. Looking back through this journal, I remember that nobody did a blessed thing last NYE, so I ended up staying home playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

- About two weeks into the New Year, Moe and I took the old people bus to Atlantic City. It was $33 round trip and they gave us $22 in cash and a $5 food voucher when we reached the Showboat. That's actually a pretty good deal until you consider that this bus makes more stops than Henrik Lunqvist and we sat by the bathroom where these old assholes kept running. One lady blew that bathroom up like whoa. A very extra-sensory experience. I don't think anything else noteworthy happened on that trip...unless you count Moe being up 7 grand, and then having to ask me to buy him cigarettes by the time we were leaving.

- February brought a couple things into my life that jumpstarted two different lanes of excitement in me. The first was the creation of Maximus Sex Power, my homage to Rick Rude, during a Warriors of Wrestling show. The second was the first date with Domino...even though she had a boyfriend at the time, and I had to pull "other man" status for a while.

Also, in February, BAC won a Win-A-Date with El Shoes contest to come see the Spice Girls at MSG with me. He wrote a very long, very heartfelt essay that stated, "If you pick me, I'll buy the tickets to see Avril in April." Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

- March was around the time I started getting heat at Gleason's. Rodz was pissed that I was doing the WOW shows because he has heat with the promoter there and didn't want me going there. I explained to him that I don't give a fuck who he has heat with, I just want to work. The combination of this, the piss-poor school shows, and him fucking up a deal which would have had Flex and I be the trainers for Mickey Rourke for his The Wrestler role led to me leaving Gleason's in July. Since that time, the other guys whom I consider friends from there are miserable and basically have given up on the business, but still go do this shit for Johnny just because it gives them an excuse to all hang out together.

- Over the course of the year, Team GAS went to two TNA ppv's (Lockdown and Hard Justice) and one WWE (Backlash.) I never want to go to another TNA show of any kind again. Most notable thing about these trips was I could never get the merch that I wanted and that I actually stayed awake the whole ride home from Baltimore which Gomez and BAC thought was an impossibility.

- As I remember stuff now, I got to see a live Spurs game for the first time ever. Smooth rented a car so I could ride with him to the first WOW show I did in Feb, then after sleeping at his apt, we drove up to Boston on Sunday morning for an afternoon Celtics vs. Spurs match. That was fucking cool.

- Ric Flair got retired. You don't need to be a huge Flair fan like me to realize that he's the greatest to ever walk the aisle.

- Domino and I became "official" in like July or something.

- I turn 27. I can't believe that's real. Had my birthday party at Porky's where everybody I could have ever wanted to be at a party (with two notable exceptions ::cough BAC Meatball cough::) was there, so that was cool. And if I remember correctly, Super Ibanez raped me or something.

- NKOTB! Best show ever. Steve, don't worry. I will give you the money for that next time I see you.

- The Mets collapsed again. They disgust me. The stop hitting at the end of the year and Omar is still happy going into next season with Tatis as the starting leftfielder. Ridiculous. At least the bullpen will suck less now.

- I won two title belts this year. First was WUW North American Title when I beat Pete Simmons after some botched interference from Smooth and the second was the WOW No Limits Title that I took from David Kalypso after hitting him with the Max Power Play. Lost back the North American title to Pete the next month (which was my last match there...see? I do business right) and currently still hold the WOW belt that I'll next be defending on January 31st in Staten Island.

- The Penguins lost in the Stanley Cup finals this year. Man that was awesome. It was their first trip to the finals since 92 and to watch it was just awesome. Obviously, would have like a better result, but they played their asses off and just ran into a machine in Detroit.

- I let Moe tattoo me. I was the first person he ever tattooed and now I have a Mets' "NY" logo on my ankle.

- Domino broke up with me, but we're back together and everything is cool again.

- Started playing hockey for the first time in about 10-12 years. I need to relearn how to skate...like quick.

- Ohhh how could I forget softball?! Softball was huge for me this year. Played in a Sunday morning league and set up an after-work league. And just when I finally started to hit...the season ended.

All in all, this year was pretty good. Sure Obama probably had a more celebrated year and that whole recession thing will get more news play, but I liked this year.

So ladies, fellas, have a great one tonight. Happy New Year and I look forward to the next even numbered year!
