So, today was Alexis's birthday and I brought her camping in Helen. It was so much fun, despite that it rained we still had a blast, I think the rain made it that much more crazy. We brought along Izzy, and she has to be one of the coolest dogs ever, besides occasionally running off for a second to chase come beast of an unknown size away from camp, she was pretty cool. She slept the whole way up and down from Helen and is friggin hilarious. Luckily, we found out in advance that it was going to rain at about 4am so we put on the rain covers. However, we left the mesh open so we could get fresh air and when it started raining we only closed one of the mess doors, and not the one to the second tent we had linked up to our tent (a tent for izzy, duh) so it started raining in izzy's tent. Eventually, we after waking up to izzy whimpering we got her to come over and join us in our tent and sleep in between Alexis and me. She later got up and pushed alexis into the middle. It was pretty hilarious. Alexis and I have some really good pictures so whenever we can get them developed we'll show them to you. We also had a close encounter of some unknown creature. We couldn't figure out what it was other than it was probably pretty big. It had distinct footsteps from the sound it made and wasn't a dragging sound like something close to the ground. Could have been anything. Probably a bear, but I didn't want to freak Alexis out.
Well, after surviving the night and staying warm in the two person and one dog sandwich we packed up in the rain and went to a few shops along the way and had lunch. I'd have to say this was one of the best weekends I've ever had (and it wasn't even my birthday either!). We definitely want to go back, rain or shine. The place we stay at is very secluded...sp? anyways, the closest camp of people was at least a 100 yards away which is plenty far. The camp I wanted to get was open but the guy running the camp ground told me it was taken so I didn't bother to look and see if it was the same camp ground I was thinking about. Next time, it'll be probably pretty soon so listen out if you're interested.
Happy Birthday Alexis!
