You had me at "What did you do?" Lauren is saying while looming just above Diana's shoulders. Usually in one-on-one interactions Lauren slouches, tries to look small and average, but right now she's looming with purpose. I can almost imagine Lauren's internal facepalm.
Oh, and "Are you crazy?"/"What, have you just met me?"
On the one hand, it does feel like there's a piece missing between Penny still being hurt and upset and Penny at the end, that Penny seems to have forgiven too quickly. (I mean, unless Lauren lied about Penny being hurt and upset.) On the other hand, the remaining tension really turns the story into a circle, back to the beginning enough that I keep thinking the beginning takes place in 2009. On the other other hand, were you considering working Cappie's trade request in, given the dysfunctional relationship with Diana?

The beginning and end are both meant to be set in 2007, actually. I tried to drop hints at that without stating it overtly. (It being Cappie's first championship and references to Detroit.) And I totally do think the reason Cappie wants a trade is because of how fucked things became between the trio -- at least, in this universe that's why -- but that felt like a tangent into an entirely new fic. Glad to see someone else thinks it could work, ahem.

I find blaming Diana to be very comforting. I'll go ahead and blame that on Rutgers having corrupted me.

The best thing about writing rpf is, I think, that somehow you can explain things in fic. Penny taking a break to Diana being an idiot. Cappie leaving to Diana being an idiot. The stupid '08 season to... Diana being an idiot. But your Diana here is so real and believable that I swear this could have actually happened.
...I still cannot wrap my head around Diana/Cappie, but here it works. And Sue. I love Sue so much here. Diana getting caught and Sue being THERE was just, oh, my heart. It hurts.
(I think I did Diana/Penny so casually because that's how I figure some relationships work. But I am not sure. Maybe I am just somehow very open to people sharing. Other people sharing other people. Maybe?)

I noticed I never responded to your comment here and I'm pretty sure it's because we were talking about it on AIM? But this makes me seem rude and like I dislike you! (Which is true, but. You know. SHHHH.)

Hey, I'm not judging! I actually TRIED writing it casually to begin with, but I just have trouble picturing Penny not taking it seriously. She's so much more MATURE than Diana and while that might mean being really cool and casual about sex, I also see it as her being way more likely to see long term repercussions that Diana doesn't even dream of. I want a happy carefree Penny, but the one I got is all angsty and earnest. Hey, do you think it's an Australian thing? I mean, look at teenage Lauren.

This awkward and borderline unhealthy dynamic is really the only way I can see them, though.
