okay, so, this isn't going to be an all depressed post, like mine usually are cause i tend to post only when i'm really depressed. anywho...so, as soon as kev's background and dmv checks clear, and his references check out, he'll be working for Hallmark Pools & Spas in their warehouse. he'll be full-time, monday - friday (only!) making at least $10/hour and he'll get benefits! i'm so excited!! cause this last job he got (he got it over the phone) driving radiator's around is just not what it interviewed to be. he was supposed to be full-time and since he started working with them about 2 weeks ago, he hasn't worked a full 40 in a week yet, especially this week. he has saturday and sunday's off with the radiator place, so counting those 2 days he hasn't been to work in 6 days. he called his manager yesterday morning on his way to work (luckily before he got on the freeway) and his manager's like, yeah, you can come in but because the owner wanted so many drivers hired AND trained before summer (so immediately) AND 6 of their 15 trucks are in the shop, there's really nothing for you to do. i've got about 3 hours for you if you'd like to come in, is what he tells kev. he tells kev that the other 2 full-time drivers are just as cut in hours too. kev's like, no man, it's not worth it in this weather. so, he comes home. later yesterday, kev and liz are coming back from the store (we had dinner with kev's brother and newly acquired sister-in-law and we brought dessert, chocolate covered cheesecake with m&m minis on it) anywho, i digress, they're coming back from the store and see one of our managers here at his mom's apartment. the manager's are a husband and wife, ben & shannon. anywho, kev stops to talk to ben about kev, liz and i getting pulled off of his mom's contract and put on our own in our own unit. and ben's like, yeah, that's fine, but try to do it before kev's mom moves out so it doesn't look like we're just trying to get a new, clean apartment. well, later, ben calls kev and asks if i'm home, i'm not quite yet, so ben asks kev if he and i could come over to their apartment when i get home to talk. and kev's like, sure, is everything okay? and ben's like, yeah, everything's fine. so, we get over and we just start talking cause we've known ben & shannon nearly 8 years now, since kev's mom moved into these apartments not long after we started dating in 98. so, we're talking with ben, shannon's running around the house and finally sits down to join us when ben goes, "i hope i'm not being too forward when i ask you this, but how's you're guys' relationship, you two, your marriage?" and we're like, "fine, together 8 years, married 6." as kev and i exchange a confused look. ben goes, "good, that'll make this next question make a little more sense, what would you guys think about being assistant managers to the complex?" and we're like, dumbstruck, silent. we're like, "okay, what does that mean?" basically, there's another couple in the complex that are also assistant managers and the assistant managers go 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. we'd be working monday - friday, 5pm - 9pm (handling any resident calls), saturdays 10am - 5pm, and by appointment only on sundays. we'd be moving into the apartment of the assistant manager's that are leaving (they're leaving because they're buying a house in temecula) and it's a 2 bedroom/2 full bath apartment, a little different, and a little bigger then kev's mom's apartment. we can still keep liz with us and, here's the doozie. we don't get a salary, but our rent will only be $315/month!!!!! oh, my god, i was so stoked!!!! even more so cause this could all happen anytime between this weekend and the end of april!!!! my hours work beautifully for this, working only 9am - 3pm, and kev's new job puts him off at 5pm, at the latest, so i'd be alone for the first hour, but we're both available on the weekends. along with handling calls, we've gotta close the laundry rooms at night, empty the laundry room trash cans, and help with the general cleanliness of the apartments, oh, and open and close the laundry rooms on our weekends. so, yeah. oh, my god, i was so excited!! what an opportunity for us. and the complex is huge, if we ever left, wanted to move to different apartments, we could actually then look for an apartment in the want-ads section for assistant managers. so there's my happy news!!!!
