Who let the troll out?
Welp... I spent a SOLID two days in the basement staining cabinets. I was allowed to emerge today for a Memorial Day picnic. It was glorious. It was such a beautiful day... I whined a bit on the way there... because the cabinets were not finishing themselves... but I'm so glad I went. I haven't had ANY fun in SOOOO long. It has just been work, work, messes, chaos and more work for SO many months. It really has been depressing me... and now with postpartum hormones at full swing... the sunshine was so therapeutic.
With that all said... my cabinets are not done!!!! I still have 6 cabinets and a pantry to do... and 5 drawers. They actually will not take all that long to stain... but the cabinet doors will take another day or two to finish the varnishing... and then I have to do the floor... which has not been given its final sanding.
I did completely stain and varnish 14 other cabinets though... and I did 23 cabinet doors just yesterday! Woohooooo!
The plumber showed up today... just not early enough to finish the job... so he'll be back tomorrow *crosses fingers* and we just might get an inspector in here this week. I hope so... or this kitchen is NOT going to be done in time for Sean's big race. Which is our deadline right now. At any rate... as long as the inspection is done... we won't lose $300 on a useless building permit. Ugh. Technicalities.
