Title: Sunset

Author: Forgotnsuitcase

Disclaimer: JKR owns it all.

Rating: G. Nothing naughty here.

Summary: Bill's thoughts before he leaves Egypt for England.

Author's Notes: I got the idea listening to Fall Out Boy. One line became a plot bunny.

Bill Weasley ran a hand through his long red hair, looking wistfully at the setting sun. The twins would call him a prat if they knew, but he had always thought that Egyptian sunsets were somewhat magical. Pinks, golds, and oranges streaked the sky, casting the sand in shadows, but bathing the pyramids in a warm, rich, glow.

He squinted his eyes, refusing to look away until the sun had fully settled underneath the horizon; it was his last sunset and hell, he was going to appreciate every damn second of it.

Being a curse-breaker had been his dream job- adventure, danger, intrigue. But now he was giving it all up, going back to rainy England to work at a desk job, for Merlin's sake.

He kicked the sand with a dragonhide boot, sending the grains flying into the air. It wasn't fair to him, giving up everything. But the Order needed him. Dumbledore needed him. His family needed him.

The sun was just a sliver, the warmth of the day leaving, ushered away by the chill of the night. With sudden decisiveness he changed his mind. He wanted to remember Egypt just like this, this perfect moment.

Tucking his hands into his coat pockets, he glanced to his left for one last look at his old home. The tents where he and his mates had lived were blinding; pinpoints of light bounced off poles and equipment, forcing Bill to turn back. It didn't really matter though- he had said his goodbyes earlier, he wouldn't do it again.

Since he had sent his bags to England that morning, there was nothing else to delay him. Closing his eyes to block out the sandy, golden horizon, he felt the familiar pains of Apparation. He knew there would be sunsets in England, but they just wouldn't be the same.
