Eddie-tastic

So, it hasn't been a full week of summer break yet, but it feels like it. Here's what has happened so far:

A creepy man hit on me at work in a profoundly creepy way
I had to stay at work until 2 in the morning, and then open the store the next day
I finished the awesome book I've been reading for weeks (possibly months) about a man who finds love with a half man's lizard woman wife. I promise you, it's much better than it sounds
I sat next to Candy for hours on end, because her dumb ass keeps trying to behave like normal, even though sh...

Yeah, that was the draft of the last thing I wrote in my LiveJournal that I didn't post, and then proceeded to not write again for almost a year. All of a sudden, tonight, I wanted to write again. So I'll just go back exactly as I was doing.

I took my car, John, in to the dealership today. He was making a weird noise, which apparently was caused by not changing my oil frequently enough. I also need a new air filter, the transmission flushed, windshield wipers, and a hubcap from the time I was driving home from work in the middle of a snowstorm and hit a median and had to get a new tire and wheel. My boss bitched me out for not getting my oil changed, but I had no idea that you are supposed to do it every three months. Wikipedia never told me, and if Wikipedia doesn't tell me I don't know.
God, how I love Wikepedia. Eddie Izzard opened his show talking about Wikipedia, and I almost had a heart attack. I also love Eddie Izzard, you see.

I'm kind of excited to see the new Hulk movie this weekend. I didn't want to see it until I learned that Iron Man makes an appearance, and I totally loved Iron Man. I think I liked it about as much as I liked Batman Begins. I'm also really excited for The Dark Knight to come out, even though it's not for quite some time.

I'm kind of in the middle of a reading frenzy. I am currently reading:

-The Collected Works of Oscar Wilde. Specifically, I am reading Vera.
-Fair Weather, by Joe Matt. It's a graphic novel by an author Jenna Fischer (Pam from The Office) really admires, so when I saw a book by him at the library I had to check it out. I checked not that long ago for him at my library and they didn't have any, so I was pretty nerdily excited when I happened upon it.
-Anthem of a Reluctant Prophet by Joanna Proulx. I think its actually a young adult book, but I needed to start a book to balance out the hours upon hours I was spending reading Oscar Wilde. Not that Oscar is that mentally taxing (its not like the Leaves of Grass I have on deck), but eventually you just want something light. The subject matter isn't that light, though. It's about a boy who predicts the death of people, and the emotional toll it takes on him. It's pretty decent, although the author tries a little too hard to sound young and hip. Like the bands the main character likes? All totally mainstream, but the author clearly thinks they are obscure and reveal a lot about him. Wow, the same kid likes Papa Roach and Red Hot Chili Peppers AND The White Stripes?! Impressive street cred! Other than the desperate appeal to teen readers who don't read, I think it's actually pretty well written for a young adult book. Its nowhere near Hairstyles of the Damned, but I'll definitely finish it pretty soon.
-Fight Club by Chuck Palahnuik or however you spell it, I am waaaay too lazy to look it up. I'm not sure how I feel about him as a writer. I've read Choke, which was all right, and I read Rant, which I really liked. Starting Fight Club just feels like more of the same.

The Cubs apparently made an amazing comeback today, which I missed because I was going to Big B's to get an iced chai with caramel. Big B's, in case you are not familiar with the chain, used to be called Beaner's. I have nooo idea why they changed their name. None at all. Doesn't seem offensive to any large group of people in the slightest.

Anyway, good to be back.
